WE SAMPLED one of THE WORLD'S FIRST DRUM MACHINEs
We tracked down and restored a Wurlitzer Sideman, the first commercial tube based drum machine. It was an incredibly innovative and unique instrument for the time. It made it's debut in 1959 and continued to sell throughout the 1960's.
The Sideman used sound generating circuits that were tube-based. It was driven by an electronic motor that turns a scanning disk with rows of contact points. Each contact point triggers a drum sound, generating a particular rhythm. The faster the disk spins, the faster the pattern plays.
Doesn't get more vintage than that.

We created a detailed sample library of each sound that this machine can trigger.
In total there are 200 samples. 10 different instruments, 5 samples for each sound and 5 different mix variations.
Samples include: Bass Drum, Tom Tom I, Tom Tom II, Temple Block I, Temple Block II, Wood Block, Claves, Maracas, Brush & Cymbal.
All samples are built into our presets.

We have included 200 loops straight from the machine. No effects, no processing, just raw tube generated sounds.
We sampled every rhythm this machine can generate, every 10 BPM from 90 - 220 BPM as well as some "Fox Trot" variations.
These untouched loops allow users to process these sounds any way they choose.
